EXIST-Women programme at MLU
- You are a student? You are a graduate? You are doing a doctorate? You are a scientist? or you have a professional degree and work at a university?
- You want to discover and develop your entrepreneurial talents?
- You have an idea and want to find out how much start-up potential it has?
Then take the chance and apply soon on this website to participate in the Exist-Women programme.
Under the motto "Empowering Women to start up", the Transfer and Entreprenuership Service is offering a coaching and mentoring programme to promote ideas and talent among women.
The aim is to sensitise women to start-ups and increase the proportion of women in business start-ups.
The core of the Exist-Women programme is a 3-month scholarship, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
During the support provided by the scholarship:
- develop important cornerstones of the business model
- take the first steps to validate the start-up idea
- develop scenarios for possible next development steps
At the end of the funding programme, you will receive an initial pitch deck for your start-up idea and a plan for the next steps.
What is funded?
For a total of 3 months you will receive monthly:
- Female students (prerequisite: at least 50% of the course work already completed): 1.000€
- with a university degree: 2.500€
- doctorate: 3.000€
- completed vocational training: 2.000€
plus up to
- 2.000€ for project expenses
- 150€ per month per child
Funding period:
Funding with the EXIST-Women scholarship can begin on 01 February 2024. In their application, applicants must specify a three-month period of their choice for taking up the scholarship in the period from 1 February 2024 to 31 October 2024 (last possible month of funding).
Please note:
A simultaneous combination with another scholarship, an active employment relationship (up to 20 hours per week) or a support programme to finance living expenses is possible.
Women receiving funding are required to attend the BMWK seminar "Founder" and, after individual consultation, to take advantage of relevant workshops, counselling and mentoring services offered by the Transfer and Start-up Service.

What is the selection process?
A total of 10 women are expected to receive scholarships in the EXIST-Women programme at MLU.
A jury of female entrepreneurs, founders and CEOs of innovative companies will be appointed to select the scholarship holders from the pool of applicants.
The jurors decide on the selection of the scholarship holders at the end of the year. The applicants will be informed of the jury's decision by email.
Independent of the funding in the EXIST-Women programme, the specific as well as general qualification and networking offers of the Transfer and Start-up Service are open to all women interested in starting a business. Information is published regularly on our website.
How can I apply?
- Applications for funding in the Exist-Women programme at MLU are possible up to and including 30 November 2023.
Requirements for the application for the EXIST-Women programme are:
- You are a student (at least 50% of your studies have already been completed) or a graduate or doctoral student or scientist or have a professional qualification and work at a university.
- You have an idea that you would like to develop further.
- You are interested in the topic of entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Mind Set and want to develop your entrepreneurial talent
Submission of the application (up to and including 30 November 2023): Submissions are no longer possible at this time.
