The DFG funds both the organization of international scientific congresses in Germany and the organization of annual conferences of German scientific societies or German specialist groups of supraregional importance.

Funding for international scientific congresses in Germany is based on the number of participating doctoral researchers. Funding for annual conferences includes grants towards the travel costs of designated speakers from abroad.

Applications should be submitted at least 6 months before the start of the event.

The Fritz Thyssen Foundation particularly supports smaller nationally and internationally oriented conferences in the funding areas of history, language & culture, state, economy & society, medicine and natural sciences.

Funding can be applied for to cover travel costs, accommodation costs, catering costs for active participants, a small amount of ancillary conference costs (printing of flyers and posters, conference support from student or academic assistants, rent for conference rooms, etc.) and childcare costs incurred during the event.

Applications should be submitted at least 6 months before the start of the event.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation supports scientific conferences worldwide that focus on basic biological, chemical, medical or pharmaceutical research and that emphasize the exchange of concepts and unpublished results and promote dialogue between generations of scientists. Among other things, it awards grants for international conferences organized by and for young scientists (i.e. postgraduates and postdocs) and supports scientific conferences held in cooperation with other renowned organizations as well as conference series. Applications can include travel and accommodation costs for experienced researchers who are invited to give a keynote lecture.
Applications can be submitted between 8 months and 10 weeks before the start of the conference.

The Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment (MWU) of Saxony-Anhalt can occasionally grant funding for the organization of scientific events. After consultation with the responsible research officer at the MWU, a formal application using the AZZA form is required.

Please note when submitting your application: The applicant is the university. The application documents must therefore be signed with a legally binding signature before submission. Prior to this, a check must be carried out by the contact persons in Department 6, who will also obtain the necessary signature. You can obtain the valid AZZA form from Division 6.1.

MLU can provide grants for the organization and financing of international and national scientific congresses, symposia, colloquia and workshops, international conferences and annual scientific meetings of German scientific societies. Applications for events in the coming year must be submitted to the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Internationalization and Transfer by 31 December of the current year.

The Department of Economics, Science and Digitization of the City of Halle (Saale) can provide material support for the organization of events and congresses. Funding is only available for events with an economic or scientific focus and the participants and speakers must not come exclusively from Halle (Saale).

The application must be submitted at least 8 weeks before the start of the event.
